So 6 weeks ago I didn’t even know what a giveaway was so I’m going to share with you what they are, how you can benefit from them, and even link you to some great FREE Gifts (but only available for the next week) – everything from getting traffic to your site, graphics packs, email marketing secrets, affiliate offers, search engine optimisation and heaps more!

But first what is a Giveaway I hear you ask…. And I’m gunna tell you all about it so that you don’t sound as dumb as me when people ask you to be part of one or invite you to one.

So far you probably reading this because you’ve heard you can make money online blogging and want more info about that and what to see what I’ve been learning and how you can benefit from it… But if you want a little run down on the basics it goes like this:

1. Start a blog
2. Provide great valuable content that solves problems and provides solutions
3. Get people to opt into your mailing list
4. Responsibly sell to your mailing list (well some people just “sell” but I think like any business that wants to stick around its better to provide useful, quality products that HELP your subscribers).

So how does a “giveaway” factor in all of this?

Well back in June when I was at Alex’s Instant Profit Seminar (see my first post for more info) I was asking people how they built a mailing list – Alex kept saying “the money is in the list”. And people just said “Giveaways” and I was like “HUH?” Whats a giveaway? I swear I was so “fresh off the boat in the internet marketing world” I’m lucky that I had great people around me who could give advice.

And it wasn’t just one person but about 5 different people there  (including Sally Neil – who has just launched her own training program) who told me about Giveaways and how they quickly built a mailing list with giveaways which helped them fast track an income from their blog.

ALRIGHT ALL READY… WHAT IS A GIVEAWAY?

A Giveaway is an online event where a group of people get together (there are a lot of people involved if they are good ones) and add their free gifts to the event ready for when it opens to members.

Once it is open for members everyone with gifts will then promote the event to start getting people in to download all the gifts. To download a gift people provide their email. This then means everyone with gifts has a great chance to build a massive list with all the members inside looking for free information.

So you’re thinking I’ve got a gift in there and now I’m promoting it… Unfortunately no. I’m still developing my first product and unfortunately I didn’t have anything to contribute so I couldn’t be a part of it when Simon Dodd (who I met at the Instant Profit Seminar) ask me. I think I’ll have to do another post on how to be a part of one because he gave me some great ideas and tools… but that’s for another post.

So the reason I’m doing this post is because there are many benefits for both people building a business and people looking for information. Giveaways are great for:

– Getting to know the players in Internet Marketing (IM) who can help you build your business
– Meeting like minded people who also want to make money online
– Downloading hundreds of free internet marketing gifts
– Building a massive email list that you can market too
– Developing a reputation and brand online

You can join a Giveaway event or start one yourself like Simon and a few of his mates have.

Sally Neil told me that she and Alex wanted to show people that anyone can make money online. So they developed a cartoon character, set up a blog in it’s name and monitised it in a matter of weeks without telling anyone who was behind it or without using Alex’s reputation to drive traffic and customers.

I asked how a cartoon could gain customers with no reputation and she said they built a mailing list through giveaway events!  I was also curious and so I asked what happened and she went on to say that the site started to make money but they pulled it because it was an example and they didn’t want to mislead people. They couldn’t fully interact with the customers because after all it was an invented cartoon character with no voice…

So the moral of the story here folks??

Giveaways can be a good way to start building your mailing list from scratch!
